Plan a campus event!
Host a movie screening: Order the Imagine No Malaria DVD, which includes “A Killer in the Dark,” a documentary about how we are fighting malaria in Africa. This hour-long feature, narrated by Pauley Perrette of TV’s hit show NCIS, is a powerful look at Africa’s struggle and fight against malaria. Click here to request your free copy.
Photo Contest: This is a chance for all aspiring photographers to show off their best pictures. Ask for submissions in several categories (funny, college life, creative group shots, etc.). Set-up pictures like an art show. Fancy it up and have the photo framed and matted (use construction paper) and include a small biography of the artist. Place a collection jar in front of each picture in which people can place coins or bills to vote for their favorites. A quarter (or more) equals one vote or whichever photos collect the most money win the photo contest.
End of Year Dorm Yard Sale: Unwanted things pile up in dorm rooms and when it’s time to move out nobody wants to move home with outdated decor, unwanted clothing, and college era possessions that are passé. Why not sponsor an end of year dorm sale where students can save themselves the time and trouble of packing and moving “stuff” they don’t want while doing a good deed at the same time?
Formal dress sale: Clean out closets and make some money formal and homecoming season by asking for donations of old evening gowns. Set up a sale in a large room, such the student center—preferably some place with access to dressing rooms and full-length mirrors. See if local bridal shops and fashion boutiques to see if they have any dresses they’d be willing to donate.
Make a donation by text: Got a cell phone? Ready to help? Text the word ‘malaria’ to 27722 and give a $10 gift to Imagine No Malaria.
